Making candles can be a fun and rewarding pastime. They make for a

The fundamentals of candle making seem pretty basic to most people, made
up of the 2 w's: wax and wick. However, in order to make candles that
will last longer and look better, one must arm oneself with the correct
candle making equipment. Below is a list of necessary equipment that you
will need in order to make beautiful and unique candles in no time.
1. A heat source - something along the lines of your kitchen stove.
2. Container or pot - This is to melt your wax in. In order to melt wax
you will need something that will act as a double boiler, so that you
can melt the wax gradually and consistently.
3. A thermometer - To keep an eye on the temperature to avoid it
becoming to hot and blowing up all over the kitchen!
4. Candle molds - These can be any size or shape, the only thing holding
you back is your imagination!
5. Dipping Can - These are used to dip the wick into the wax, which you
need to do for certain types of candle making.
6. Kitchen scale - so wax can be weighed if you want your candles to
look the same every time, or if you need a specific amount for a
specific mold.
7. Baking pan - Bring out the baking pan to get the wax off of your
molds.
8. Cutting instruments (scissors, craft knife etc) - Something sharp is
imperative in regards to cutting wicks or wax.
9. Hammer and screwdriver - For larger blocks of wax, use like a hammer
and chisel to break it apart easier.
10. Mold sealers - To plug up the hole in which your wick has gone to
stop any wax escaping in the drying procedure.
11. Releasing agent or mold releases - Works like vegetable oil when
used in cooking - prevents wax sticking to the sides of the mold.
12. Wax glue - To add extra frills onto the sides of the candles.
Ribbons, sequins, stickers - the choices are endless!
13. Wick tabs - A small round metal piece which you thread your wick
through to help it attach to the candle and also helps it to stand
upright with greater ease.
14. Fire extinguisher. - Just to be on the safe side! You never know
what can happen when working with wax.
Now you have all your necessary items to make gorgeous candles to give
to family and friends for any type of celebration, to sell, or even just
to put around the house to add flair and vivacity.
In order to make candles properly, you must have the correct equipment.
Also please remember to always be careful while making candles, as the
wax can get very hot and can be quite a volatile material when not used
correctly. You are now well on your way to becoming a master of candle
making! Enjoy!
