How To - Christmas Crafts to Make With Candy, Berries and
Ribbon

There are nine more days until the Christmas holiday is here. Families
are starting to fly into town, more and more houses are being lit up and
the shopping malls are becoming more and more crammed. That's the one
complaint I have about the holiday season, and that's all the people and
the lines we have to stand in. Shopping online is so much easier, yet
you are still spending all that money, which could be going towards
something else. There are so many Christmas crafts to make to help
decorate your home and make this the perfect Christmas season.
Some Christmas crafts to make this year are wreaths, door hangers and
candy cane crafts. Wreaths are so fun to make as you can really go all
out and get creative with them.
Wreath making- I cheated a little bit this Christmas. Although wreaths
are great Christmas crafts to make, I only made half of it. What I mean
by this is that I already started out with a plain full wreath that yes,
I bought from the store. What's great about this though is that you get
to decorate it in any way you wish. If you bought the completed wreath
from a store, you might get something on there you don't want.
If you make your own, you get everything you want. All I did was bought
some berries from a crafting store along with some beaded leaves and
glitter leaves. I then all of a sudden became Susy Homemaker and just
started putting together this great wreath. You can add any
embellishment you wish. For the final touch, I tied a red velvet ribbon
on the top for perfection. It is now hanging beautifully on the outside
of my door.
Door Hangers- There's nothing more beautiful than the sound of a bell at
Christmastime. As the old saying goes, every time a bell rings, an angel
gets its wings. This is the perfect Christmas craft for you to make to
greet your guests at the door. All you need are some bells, any size you
wish, a ribbon, some glue and a rope or something to hold your craft up.
You can always use a wreath holder or a clothing hanger.
You also need some embellishments like berries or pinecones. All you
need to do is tie the ribbon at the top of a bell. If you have a longer
ribbon, this is ok because it will drape nicely with the rest of the
craft. You then glue your berries and pinecones between the ribbon and
bell for an additional look. Once this is done you can then hang your
door hanger around the knob and wait for your guests to be greeted by
the sound of a ringing bell.
Candy Cane Crafts- Not only do I love hanging candy canes on my tree,
but I also love to make Christmas crafts out of them. My favorite is the
candy can reindeer. This is so easy to make your kids can help you out.
The materials needed for this is one candy cane, a brown pipe cleaner,
googly eyes and a pom pom. Of course you'll need some glue too. The
first thing you do is take the pipe cleaner and wrap it around the top
of the candy cane, where the loop part is.
You make sure it's even on both sides, this creates the antlers. You
then twist them in any way you want, however you want the antlers to
look. You then put a dab of glue on the googly eyes and glue one on each
side to create the reindeer's face. Then put a dab of glue on the pom
pom and put it on the end of the candy cane for the nose. This can be
any color you wish. If you're making Rudolph the red nosed reindeer,
then you'll clearly use a red pom pom. Then you're done. You can create
as many as you wish and display them on your tree or in any room. I love
it!
